Gazette issued removing price control on four commodities
Sri Lanka's State Minister of Cooperative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection, Lasantha Alagiyawanna in an Extraordinary Gazette on Yesterday (08) had excluded Milk Powder, LP Gas, Cement & Wheat Flour from list the Specified Goods.
Yesterday, importers of the listed commodities told the media that they would decide the retail prices after the Gazette is issued by the government.
Thereby new prices for the said commodities will be released today.
Previously wheat flour importers requested that they be allowed to increase a kilo by between Rs.15-20.
Milk powder importers have announced that they will increase the price for a kilogram by Rs. 350.
Importers also requested that a domestic gas cylinder be revised by Rs.500 while a 50 kg cement pack be priced Rs. 200 higher.
