News reveal that 64 Srilankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu refugees’ camp had tried to go to South Africa by boat and got trapped near Maldives and arrested by Interpol police.
64 Srilankan Tamil refugees, who have been living in Tamil Nadu refugee’s camp in the first week of September had bought an Indian registered boat in Kerala at 45 lakh rupees and planned to Canada with 20 persons in it.
According to their plan, when they were travelling between Maldives and Mauritius islands their boat was struggling in the stormy sea as the weather was worst at that time, the boat had to be in territorial waters of Diego Garcia where American Military is based.
As this island is under the control of America , it is believed they have been arrested over the charge that they have entered their country without permission. However it is reported that this matter has not authoritatively informed to the Indian Government up to now.
