Unions to launch 48-hour strike against LNG supply to US?

The power sector unions have said that they are focusing on a 48-hour strike to protest against the move to hand over Sri Lanka's LNG supply to an American company.

The General Secretary of the Ceylon Electricity Board Worker’s Union Ranjan Jayalal said that a media briefing will be convened this morning (27) to provide all relevant information.

A discussion between the leaders of 11 government parties and the leaders of several petroleum, power and port trade unions was held at the Communist Party office in Borella yesterday afternoon.
