Order not to pay Chinese fertilizer ship anymore!
The censorship imposed on People's Bank by the Colombo Commercial High Court has been extended until the 23rd of this month, preventing the Chinese company being paid for organic fertilizers.
Last October, a court issued an injunction restraining People's Bank from making any payments through a letter of credit opened to China's Qingdao Seawin Biotech and its local agent, which identified the microbes as harmful.
The order was issued by the Commercial High Court following a request made by the Ceylon Fertilizer Company.
Meanwhile, the Hippo Spirit ship carrying Chinese organic fertilizer, which was twice confirmed by the Sri Lankan Plant Quarantine Service as containing the presence of harmful microorganisms, is still in Sri Lankan waters.
According to international shipping data, the ship was anchored yesterday, 12.4 nautical miles directly off Beruwala.
