Paddy farmers in Matale reject organic fertilizer

Many paddy farmers in the Matale District have not accepted the organic fertilizer that they were provided with free by the Government because of quality issues.

“Therefore, these stocks of fertilizer have been piled at several locations in the district,” the farmers said.

They added that they cannot continue paddy cultivation without quality fertilizer. Meanwhile, district agriculture officials claimed that this situation has occurred since many farmers refused to accept the organic fertilizer provided for them free by the Government.
