No need for power cuts during the day: CEB
There will be no power cuts during the day, the Ceylon Electricity Board said on Monday (Jan. 10).
“There will be no need for power cuts in January since the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has agreed to provide the required stocks of fuel,” M.R. Ranatunga, the General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board told News 1st.
Adequate stocks of fuel to last 05-days were received as of now, he noted.
According to Ranatunga, due to the loss of 300 MW of power generated from the Norochcholai Power Plant, the power supply in the country is now dependent on fuel.
Moreover, the tenders have been called for the importation of Coal, he added.
However, power cuts are likely in the event there is a shortage of Coal, M.R. Ranatunga pointed out.
