avy arrests 11 Indian fishermen; seize 3 boats!

The Navy has arrested three boats with 11 Indian fishermen.

Navy spokesman Indika de Silva said they were arrested on Delft Island last night (07).

He said that the arrested Indian fishermen will be handed over to the Jaffna District Fisheries Office today (08).

Meanwhile, the 21 fishermen who were arrested by the Navy and handed over to the police after being surrounded by Sri Lankan fishermen have been remanded till February 21.

A total of 135 Indian fishing boats seized by the government on charges of violating Sri Lankan maritime boundaries were auctioned yesterday (07).
