Energy Ministry allocates 10,200MT of Fuel to CEB
The Ministry of Energy has decided to allocate 10,200 metric tonnes of fuel to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), from the shipment of Diesel that reached Sri Lanka on Sunday.
This stock of fuel will be sufficient to generate electricity for 06-days.
Another fuel tanker carrying 38,000 metric tonnes of Petrol from Singapore, is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka on Friday (Feb. 26), K. R. Volga, the Secretary to the Energy Ministry told News 1st.
A request was submitted to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to open Letters of Credit worth USD $33 million to release the shipment, she noted.
According to the Energy Ministry, two ships carrying Diesel and another ship carrying Furnace Oil are scheduled to reach the island in the coming days.
