Provincial Council Elections via Old System, concludes PSC

The Select Committee of Parliament to Identify Appropriate Reforms of the Election Laws and the Electoral System and to Recommend Necessary Amendments has concluded that the Provincial Council Elections need to take place as per the old method until a new electoral system is created.

The Office of the Leader of the House of Parliament in a statement said that the committee had agreed to accept the selection of 60% of the representatives under the first past the post and 40% under the proportional system and draft its report.

The Select Committee of Parliament agreed to identify and make the necessary amendments to the electoral system, voting system, and laws.

They have agreed in principle to recommend introducing two additional seats for the winning party or group to allow them to gain the majority in local government bodies.
