Sri Lanka’s Energy Ministry said that a fuel tanker with 40,000 MT of Diesel will reach Sri Lankan shores on Sunday (20), following the singing of a US $ 1 Bn Credit Line with India.
Secretary to the Energy Minister K. D. R. Olga told News 1st that the shipment will be unloaded and prepared for distribution on Monday (21), and this shipment will pave the way to address the existing Diesel shortage.
She further went on to note that unnecessary stockpiling by the general public had made the existing shortage worse.
The Energy Ministry also went on to note that Sri Lanka has over 55,000 MT of Petrol and with the distribution process the present crisis can be averted.
However, even on Friday (19) morning many queues were seen across multiple filling stations in the country.
