Good news about Ceypetco fuel

Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge said that at present no decision has been taken to increase fuel prices of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

However, Lanka IOC increased their fuel prices by Rs. 49 from midnight yesterday (25). Accordingly, the new price of a litre of 92 Octane LIOC petrol is now Rs. 303.

Explaining the pricing of Ceypetco fuel, Minister Gamini Lokuge said, “This is a problem for us. Even last time when LIOC increased their prices, we summoned the Director Board and asked them to maintain prices in line with the Petroleum Corporation. Now, I have asked the Secretary to look into the agreement and see how we could influence them. Therefore, we will submit a Cabinet paper on Monday and take required measures. However, for now our fuel prices will remain unchanged.”

Lanka IOC has increased their fuel prices on four occasions this year alone.

Still long queues are seen at Ceypetco fuel stations and some fuel stations are closed.
