Rolling power cuts extended to 10 hours tomorrow
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved the Ceylon Electricity Board’s request for 10-hour interruptions to the power supply tomorrow (March 30).
According to the PUCSL chairman Janaka Ratnayake, the power cuts will be imposed island-wide in several slots between 8.00 am and midnight.
The CEB had sought to increase the duration of power cuts to 10 hours due to the unavailability of fuel for 750MW of thermal capacity, the PUCSL said further.
Thereby, the areas listed under the following groups will experience power interruptions of 10 hours as mentioned below:
• Areas A, B, C, D, E, and F – Ten hours from 2.00 pm to 12.00 am
• Areas G, H, I, J, K, and L – Six hours from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm / Four hours from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm
• Areas P, Q, R, and S – Ten hours from 2.00 pm to 12.00 am
• Areas T, U, V, and W – Six hours from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm / Four hours from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm
• Areas M, N, O, X, Y, and Z (feeders supplying to industrial zones) – Ten hours from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.
