PM’s statement distorted by factions -TNA

Tamil National Alliance Spokesman MP MA Sumanthiran says certain factions are distorting the statement made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that a new Constitution does not hinder the unitary status of the country.

Speaking at an event held in Jaffna, MP Sumanthiran said there was no suggestion that the country should be divided in any reports of the new Constitution.

TNA Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran also said the contents of the report by the panel of experts were presented to Parliament only on the allocation of power in a non-separable state.

The Parliamentarian further said there is no need to divide the country and it is the party’s intention to live in one country.

Accordingly, TNA media spokesman MP Sumanthiran requested Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa to support the formulation of a new Constitution without any interruptions.
