Man dies after being knocked down by MP's Benz

A pedestrian has died after being knocked down by the motorcar of Puttalam district MP Ali Sabri Raheem.

The accident had occurred last night (04) in the Mampuri area along the Palavi-Kalpitiya road when the victim was crossing the road.

The victim had died on admission to the Puttalam base hospital and has been identified as one Simiyon Benedict Dickson (46), a resident of Manthivu in Puttalam.

Police has said the driver has been taken into custody.
