Objections to Ranil becoming PM
Two key religious leaders have objected to the move to appoint United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the new Prime Minister.
Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thero who serves as a Chief Sanghanayake in the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sect and the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith have objected to the move.
Meanwhile, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has also said today (12) that any government that is formed under the current President will be against the public’s opinion.
JVP General Secretary Tilvyn Silva said such a government will not be accepted by the people and will not last for even a month.
Meanwhile, leader of the JVP - Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said that Ranil Wickremesinghe is the saviour of the Rajapaksas.
"Ranil trusts Gotabaya and vice versa.However, no citizen of this country will accept these conspiracies," he has added.
