In addition to the four ministers who have already been sworn in, other ministers will be appointed after tomorrow (18), according to sources from the Prime Minister's Office.
That is due to discussions scheduled to take place between the Prime Minister and the SLFP group at 9.00 am today and the ten independent parliamentarians who left the government thereafter.
Udaya Gammanpila said that a time was allocated for the group including Wimal Weerawansa yesterday (15), but they had asked the Prime Minister’s office for an alternative date.
It is said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will hold the post of Minister of Finance and Colombo District Parliamentarian Dr. Susil Premajayantha has been nominated for the post of Minister of Education.
Kurunegala District MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has been nominated for the post of Minister of Agriculture and Badulla District MP Nimal Siripala de Silva has been nominated for the post of Minister of Health.
The Cabinet will consist of 18 ministers, while eight ministerial posts are expected to be given to the SLPP.
Several SJB parliamentarians are expected to extend their support to the government and five ministerial slots are due to be allocated for them.
The rest of the ministerial posts are scheduled to be divided among the SLFP and the independent group, according to sources at the Prime Minister’s office.
