Soldier assigned to MPs security dies of self inflicted wounds

An Army soldier who was on duty guarding the house of TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran has committed suicide.

Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the soldier had opened fire at himself, at a land adjacent to the MP’s house at around 7.30 AM today (4). 

Police noted that the soldier had used a T-56 firearm.

The deceased has been identified as a 22 year old soldier residing in the Walapane area.
