21A to be tabled before Cabinet tomorrow
The 21st Amendment Bill to the Constitution is to be tabled before the Cabinet of ministers tomorrow (06) by Justice minister - Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
The Amendment was initially tabled before the Cabinet two weeks ago, and it was decided to re-table after discussions with all political parties and including necessary amendments.
Accordingly, several rounds of discussions were held with PM - Ranil Wickremesinghe and suggestions agreed to during these talks were included in the amended Bill.
The majority of the SLPP has already exclaimed their assent to pass the 21st Amendment as well as a host of opposition parties including the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the group of 9 parties that defected the government.
