China to donate 50% of school uniforms for next year: Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha China has agreed to donate 50% of the required school uniforms for next year and hopes to negotiate with China to obtain the rest.

The Minister said that a Cabinet paper has been submitted to the Cabinet to double the allowance allocated for students’ school lunches as well.

Accordingly, he said that discussions have been held in this regard with the Save the Children organization and the World Food Program and several other organizations.

The Minister of Education said that relevant estimates have also been submitted to the Treasury to obtain the paper required for the production of textbooks for the students for the next year under the Indian Loan Assistance Scheme.
