O/L Paper Marking affected by fuel crisis

The Ceylon Teachers Union points out that teachers who are engaged in the paper marking process of the 2021 G.C.E. Ordinary and Advanced Level Examinations have been severely inconvenienced due to the current fuel crisis.

The Chairman of the Ceylon Teachers Union, Priyantha Fernando said that teachers do not have sufficient fuel to travel to paper marking centers.

Although a letter has been issued by the Department of Examinations for O/L and A/L examiners to obtain fuel on priority basis, the CTU says that it is now useless due to unavailability of fuel.

However, the Examinations Department has mentioned that facilities have been provided for examination staff to obtain fuel by producing the appointment letter issued for examination duties, the duty ID and the letter issued by the Examinations Commissioner-General for obtaining fuel.

The Examinations Department has requested all filling station owners to provide the necessary assistance to ensure that paper marking activities are conducted without any hindrance, and the CPC has agreed to these terms.
