Ratta, Lahiru, & Jinarathana Thero returned to remand custody
The Fort Magistrate’s Court on Friday (24) granted bail to four suspects who were remanded over the 9th May 2022 unrest in Colombo.
The four suspects were released on a personal bail of Rs. 500,000/- each.
They are Jagath Manuwarna, Dhammika Munasinghe, Eranga Gunasekera, and Jehan Appuhamy.
Lahiru Weerasekera, Rathindu Senaratne alias Ratta, Venerable Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thero were returned to remand custody.
The Fort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (22) ordered for seven suspects who surrendered over acts of unruly conduct, to be remanded until the 1st of July 2022.
Sri Lanka Police on that day said that seven suspects who were wanted for illegal assembly opposite the Police Headquarters in Colombo on the 9th of June 2022 as well causing damage to public property, and obstructing the duties of police officers, surrendered to the Maradana Police via counsel.
Police said that Lahiru Weerasekera, Rathindu Senaratne alias Ratta, Jagath Manuwarna, Dhammika Munasinghe, Venerable Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thero, Eranga Gunasekera, and Jehan Appuhamy had surrendered, and they were remanded to the 1st of July.
However, Wasantha Mudalige and Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero had NOT surrendered to Police.
