Sri Lanka expecting ten fuel shipments - Minister Kanchana's another boasting
Ten fuel shipments are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka in July and August, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara says.
He told a media briefing convened today (July 03) that two shipments of diesel are expected to reach the country between July 08 and 14. Meanwhile, the arrival of two more fuel shipments containing both petrol and diesel is anticipated either on July 22 or 23.
Providing an update on the availability of fuel in the country, the lawmaker said approximately 12,774 MT of diesel, 1,414 MT of petrol 92 octane, 2,647 MT of petrol 95 octane, 233 MT of super diesel, 500 MT of aviation fuel and 29,000 MT of furnace oil are in stock at present.
Speaking further, he also revealed that USD 11 million was paid to Lanka IOC on June 30, for the procurement of 7,500 MT of diesel.
In addition, prepayments have been made to two other companies, and 40,000 MT of auto diesel is lined up between July 11 and 14, Minister Wijesekara said further, adding that USD 28 million was settled as payment for this consignment while another USD 49 million is slated to be paid on the July 08.
According to the Power & Energy Minister, Sri Lanka is expecting the arrival of following fuel shipments in July and August:
July 08 or 09: Shipment with 40,000 MT of diesel (Ceypetco)
July 08 or 09: Shipment with 135,000 MT of crude oil (Ceypetco)
July 11-14: Shipment with 40,000 MT of diesel (Ceypetco)
July 13 or 14: Shipment of 18,000 MT of petrol (LIOC)
July 13 or 14: Shipment of 12,000 MT of diesel (LIOC)
July 15-17: Shipment of diesel (payment pending) (Ceypetco)
July 22 or 23: Shipment of petrol (Ceypetco)
July 30 or 31: Shipment of 5,000 MT of petrol (LIOC)
July 30 or 31: Shipment of 24,000 MT of petrol (LIOC)
August 12: Shipment of crude oil (Ceypetco)
