Fuel distribution process under QR code from July 25

Arrangements have been made to begin fuel distribution process by scanning the QR code  from July 25 across the country, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

The minister mentioned that the pilot project of fuel distribution under  QR code will be carried out from Thursday (21) to Sunday (24) at multiple locations in Colombo.

He further mentioned that the total number of people registered under the QR code system is two million up to 4.00 pm today.

"If it is not possible to remove the vehicles that are currently in the queues, it was decided to remove them by providing fuel only according to the relevant date. The security forces decided to provide fuel only to vehicles with numbers related to that number and date," he said.

The Minister added that fuel will be issued for a maximum of Rs. 1,500 per motorcycle, Rs. 2,000 per three-wheeler and Rs.7,000 for other vehicles during the course of next week until the fuel permit is implemented.

It was also decided that fuel would not be provided to personnel who did not comply with this process, nor would fuel be distributed to non-compliant fuel stations.
