Increased train fares effective from midnight tomorrow
Increased railway fares will be applied with effect from midnight tomorrow (July 22), says the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways.
Meanwhile, the relevant Gazette notification on the train fare revision, issued by the Minister of transport Bandula Gunawardena, has been published.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to revise the railway fares for passenger transport and freight transport.
Thereby, the minimum train ticket fare has been increased from Rs. 10.00 to Rs. 20.00.
Meanwhile, measures have been taken to revise the foreign postage rates effective from the 01st of August.
It is reported that the foreign airmail and sea mail charges, as well as expedited mail charges will also be revised accordingly.
The revised postal charges were published in a Gazette Extraordinary by Minister of Mass Media Bandula Gunawardena published a Gazette Extraordinary as per the Post Office Ordinance (Chapter 190).
