Dhaniz Ali kidnapped and remanded

Dhaniz Ali, who was arrested last night (26) while trying to leave for Dubai from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, has been remanded until August 05 by the Fort Magistrate's Court.

Sri Lanka Police said that Dhaniz Ali was arrested for storming into the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation on July 13 in a violent manner, making a threatening statement live on air, and briefly disrupting the SLRC transmission.

Earlier, the Fort Magistrate also ordered to further remand 04 suspects connected to the fire at the personal residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe earlier this month.

The order also was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage this evening (27).

The CID had opposed the suspects being granted bail as the investigation is still in the initial stages while the case has been filed against the suspects under the Public Properties Act.
