Political parties to meet Election Commission
All political parties represented in parliament have been called to the National Elections Commission for a meeting.
The Chairman of the National Election Commission Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa said Party General Secretaries and representatives have been informed to attend the meeting at 10:00 AM today.
He said during the discussions the proposals of the Select Committee of Parliament to identify appropriate reforms of the election laws and the electoral system and to recommend necessary amendments will be taken up.
The National Election Commission added that a discussion on proposals to reform election laws will also be held with registered Political Parties that are NOT represented in Parliament.
