Diesel & Petrol tankers : CPC denies newspaper report
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has refuted a report published by a local newspaper claiming that US$ 432 million had been paid as demurrage charges for three fuel tankers.
Issuing a statement, the CPC said that reports of three oil tankers, including diesel and crude oil, having reached the Colombo Port are true.
The CPC said that measures have already been taken to settle the payments for one diesel tanker.
One diesel tanker has already been released after the settlement of payments and the unloading has already commenced.
Steps are also underway to commence the unloading from the second diesel tanker, the CPC said.
The CPC reiterated that, however, the report claiming that US$ 432 million had been paid as demurrage charges for the two diesel tankers is completely false.
Stating that no demurrage charges have been paid for any shipments, the CPC said the news report was an attempt to slander the institution.
