Crude oil tanker anchored in sea for 13 days
A crude oil tanker that arrived in Sri Lanka's territorial waters has been anchored in the high seas for 13 days since September 23 without being allowed to unload oil, the Alliance of Fuel, Electricity and Water Trade Unions said.
Media Spokesman of the Alliance, Ananda Palitha said 120,000 USDs was paid as late fees per day for the vessels from April until now. However, USD 150,000 is being paid daily for the latest vessel.
He said that only 25,000 USDs was paid as late fees per day before April, and called for an immediate investigation to be conducted on the increase in the daily late fees.
