Summons issued for fmr. Navy commander

Yesterday (07), a three-judge panel at the Colombo High Court issued a notice to former Navy Commander Admiral Piyal de Silva to appear in court on Oct. 11th.

He was informed to appear before court to testify in the case against five fishermen from the Northern Province regarding the smuggling of over 196kg of Heroin via the maritime route.

Chief Inspector Leslie Hiriadeniya, the former station commander of the Police Narcotics Bureau, was also issued a summons to appear on that day.

The three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court comprising High Court Judges Aditya Patabandige, Manjula Thilakaratne and Mahen Weeraman issued the notice.
