Several arrested after protest against Mahinda near SLPP rally

A protest was held in Nawalapitiya town while a SLPP rally was being held in Nawalapitiya under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

A tense situation was reported between the protestors and the police when the police arrived at the place where the protest took place and informed the people to stop and disperse the public gathering which is illegal according to the Police Ordinance Act.

Local media reported that Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s (SJB) Nawalapitiya organizer Sasanka Sampath and several others were arrested by the police.
