1st batch of school uniform cloth leaves Chinese port
The Chinese government announced yesterday that the first batch of more than three million meters of school uniform cloth for Sri Lanka has been freighted from Shanghai, China, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.
They said the consignment of uniform cloth worth Rs.5 billion will be a gift to millions of Sri Lankan students to meet 70% of the whole country's requirements in 2023.
The shipment will arrive at the Colombo Port on January 6, 2023.
The first batch consists of 3012596. 5 metres of finished cloth consisting of 38,000 packs in containers have left for Sri Lanka.
The school uniform cloth consists of 237,447.5 meters of shirt/frock - White, 350031.5 meters of trouser - white, 350031.5 meters, 150003.5 meters of trouser - blue and 138134 meters of robe-orange in colour 138134 meters.
