CEB TUs to launch massive TU action on Monday

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Trade Union Unity (CEBTUU) today said that they had taken a collective decision to launch a massive trade union action on Monday (27), over several demands, including providing electricity at a concessionary rate.

CEBTUU President Malaka Wickramasinghe told the media that the CEB should revise the method of calculating the tariff according to a better method that would balance and give relief to the consumers.
He said that they also demand the annual bonus and medical payments, which were not paid during 2022 and 2021.

“Therefore, more than 6,000 members attached to a total of 12 trade unions will apply for sick leave and engage in the trade union action at 10.30 a.m. on Monday,” he said.

The CEBTUU also stated that if the authorities did not respond, their trade union action would be expanded countrywide.

Moreover, he said a petition signed by more than 6,000 employees was handed over to the CEB Chairmen on Thursday (9)
