Punishment for answering a call while crossing the road? Man cuts off another man’s ear
A young man’s ear was cut off by another individual just because the victim was speaking on his mobile phone while crossing the road at Metigahatenna in Badulla yesterday, police said.
Police said the victim, who was a disabled man, was rushed to hospital after the suspect bit cut off his ear lobe in the middle of a pedestrian crossing just because the victim answered a call on his mobile phone.
Police said the suspect, in an act of rage had pulled out a knife and cut off the disabled man’s ear as he answered his phone and later assaulted him as he fell to the ground, much to the shock of other pedestrians on the road.
The Madolsima police said they are on the hunt for the suspect who fled the scene soon after the incident and further investigations are ongoing.
