Police Constable arrested for stripping woman

A police constable who took an 18-year-old young woman into the jungle and stripped her was arrested by the Samanalawewa police on Saturday evening (08).

He is alleged to have threatened a young couple from the Meddegama area on a visit to Samanalawewa Dam that they were suspected of possessing drugs and handcuffed the young man with his motorcycle and taken the young woman into the jungle.

She told police that the PC attempted to take video scenes of her nudity, but she managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Samanalawewa police that received an anonymous call regarding the incident rushed to the scene and rescued the young woman and her lover and arrested the suspect.

Investigations revealed that the suspect was a PC attached to Hambegamuwa police and father of a child.

The young couple was referred to the JMO Balangoda hospital for medical examination. The suspect was to be produced before the Balangoda magistrate yesterday
